It’s become a running joke on social media since the days of Avery Johnson, but Wednesday night in Athens really was a tale of two halves for the men’s basketball team. 

Johnson turned that phrase into a sort of punchline for Crimson Tide fans when he was the coach — using it often — and it’s only picked up steam since. Yet it was an appropriate description in Stegeman Coliseum when Alabama played an uninspired half of basketball in the first 20 minutes, scoring just 27 points, only to blister the second half with 58 points for a 85-76 win over Georgia.
