Starkville is roughly 84 miles from Tuscaloosa west on 82. The two cities, homes of the universities of Alabama and Mississippi State, are the closest of any campuses within the Southeastern Conference. That will remain true when Texas and Oklahoma migrate to the league in 2024. But the two new entrants are likely to spell the end of the yearly Crimson Tide-Bulldogs football game.
